Shepherd Sesquicentennial Committee

Minutes for August 8, 2007

The meeting began at 7:00pm at the Coe Twp Hall. Members present were; Dennis Oyster, S. Davidson, M. Davidson, J. Gluch, R. Bragg, J. Morgan, P. Sandel, J. Bush, ML Randolph-Walter, G. Gross, N. Oren, M. Koutz, J. Wilberding, E. Wilberding, L. Coughlin, G. Pifer, & L. Holliday. One guest, Don Brown, was present.

A motion was made by M. Koutz to accept the secretary’s report. N. Oren seconded. Motion passed.

No formal treasurer’s report was presented.

Old Business:

Opening Ceremonies – Kristy Bush will announce the essay contest winner. L. Holliday made a motion to give the contest winner 4 tickets to the carnival. This was seconded by M. Koutz. Motion passed. It was decided Tom will announce the King & Queen winners.

Buttons – Originally had $50.00 donated for laminate, but the wrong material was ordered. It was decided to use Mrs. Bleecker’s machine and material for 1000 was ordered. The cost will be $159.00. These buttons will be used as insurance for the wearer to stay out of jail. They will be sold for $1.00/ea.

Movie Theater – The first movie to be shown will be Firehouse Dog. It is a Walt Disney movie that runs approx 11/2 hours long. The second movie to be shown is National Treasure w/Nicolas Cage.

Wooden Nickels – These will be given out to all members and disbursed at events.

Banners – 114 were sold. Sales are now closed. As of today 88 have been hung though-out town.

Carnival – Thursday will be last night for pre-sales of tickets.

New Business:

Misc – Horses & buggies will be allowed in town during the Sesquicentennial. Each owner will be responsible for any mess.

Photography – Shelly suggested everyone take pics of ea. event we are in charge of and share them with the committee when we have our end of event picnic. Jon has also been in touch with Gregg Black who is a photography person.

Video – Tom has suggested he would like the parade videotaped. Jon has made contact with Mac 3 TV. Jim suggested getting in contact w/Jay Gross.

Sesquicentennial Book – Newell reported 1000 copies will be avail for sale, price yet to be determined. The book is 226 pages.

It was reported the village had met and approved $1,520.00 to be spent on additional liability insurance coverage for the Sesquicentennial.

The committee went thru each activity scheduled to see if there had been any last minute changes. One thing added was the Sugar bush will be open Fri & Sat 3:00-7.

S. Davidson made a motion to adjourn at 8:15pm. It was seconded by L. Holliday. Motion passed.

Next meeting to be held on August 15, 2007 at 7:00PM at the Coe Twp Hall.
